Practice and Philosophy
Practice Description
Psychotherapist in private practice in Claremont,
CA, and Director of
InnerWorks Wellness Center. His practice focus is:
• Stress and trauma related issues: Trained in somatic
psychotherapy, yoga, meditation, hypnosis and the impact of
trauma, Gurucharan is well equipped to help you survive and
transform the effects of stress and trauma. This can be a
short course of stress management training where practical
skills are taught or it can be a deeper exploration of how
our own patterns of emotion and behavior set us up to lead
stressful lives. It can also focus on healing from the
effects of a traumatic event or a traumatic life.
• Relationships: Marriage and other significant relationships
often trigger our own needs and limits. Mapping the territory
of the individual, in relationship, while improving communication
of current needs, hurts, personal limits and desires can deepen
satisfaction and success.
• Somatic/relational psychotherapy: This is long term
treatment that addresses long-standing patterns of personality
– behavior, thinking and emotion. The therapeutic focus
is on relationships – with your personal history, with
your body, with important others in your life and with the
therapist. The goal is to become more alive, more present,
more available, more fully connected, in your body and in
your world.
• Men and Mid-life : A major transition, often traumatic,
disorienting and life changing; yet, at the same time, a normal
life process, rich in opportunity for enhanced satisfaction
and fulfillment. Negotiating this passage can benefit from
a supportive therapeutic relationship.
• Problem focused therapy: This tends to be a shorter
course of treatment, usually 6-8 months. The focus is on individual
strengths and resources and strategies to bring about symptom
relief.
• Coaching: This is a less intense, less expensive,
supportive approach to getting help.
